***The Next Vernon and District Metis Association Community Potluck/Meeting***

Community/Potluck Meeting @ #005 3402 27th ave Vernon BC
The Next community Potluck/Meeting will be held March 19th 2017 at our office building in the People Place. The Potluck will start at 6pm, so bring your favorite dish and get to know those within your community. The meeting will begin right after we eat at 6:30 and we will go over past and up coming events, financials and anything that affects our community members.


***Vernon and District Metis Association Woman's Group***

We are proud to announce that our ladies group will be held on every second Monday from 6 pm-9 pm at our office building in the board room, #005 3402 27th ave Vernon BC. VDMA Secretary and Women's Rep Linda Van Wieringen has many great cultural classes planned from beading, leather work and the moose hide campaign. We look forward to getting the women of the community together to build on healthy living, mental health and community togetherness. If you have any questions or would like to participate, please come down to the women's group and find out the great things they will be doing. ***Bear Awareness & Confidence Workshop*** March 11th 9am-1pm @ #005 3402 27th ave Vernon BC

 The VDMA was successful in obtaining funding through the MYGETS programming to provide multiple workshops for our youth, we are looking for 6 youth to attend the Bear awareness and Confidence work shops. Please make sure you RSVP by emailing or calling us to let us know that you are will be attending so that we can make sure that we don't over book. 


***Food Safe Certification course*** March 12th 9am-5pm @ #005 3402 27th ave Vernon BC

​Food safety is a scientific discipline describing handling, preparation, and storage of food in ways that prevent food borne illness. This includes a number of routines that should be followed to avoid potentially severe health hazards.

We will be holding this course at our office building and have room for 10 youth to attend.Please make sure you RSVP by emailing or calling us to let us know that you are will be attending so that we can make sure that we don't over book.


***Survial Camp & Traditional Diet*** April 29th 10am - April 30th 1pm

​The VDMA was successful in obtaining funding through the MYGETS programming to provide multiple workshops for our youth, we are looking for 6 youth to attend this camp out to learn survival skills and some traditional Metis Diet such as bannock and stone soup.
